This beautiful carved headcrest, the work of a master sculpture, depicts a smiling face with elaborate coiffure reflecting the hairsyle worn by women.  The hairstyle and the attention given to show the carved teeth in the mouth, the relief carving of the ears and the countersunk eyes with an exquisitely carved edge surrounding the forehead all reflect the skill of the sculptor.
